Fontworks Newsletter | March 2002

> It's been quite a while since our last missive but as you'll see below we've been keeping ourselves very busy! Follow the links to see samples of all the new releases, CD product info, articles, news & special offers.

- NEW G-TYPE FONTS
Nick Cooke's wonderful G-TYPE collection grows ever larger and more diverse with the addition of ' Amulet ' which has a Celtic calligraphic influence (inspired by the Book of Kells in Dublin's Trinity College) & the multi-functional must-have ' Precious Sans ' family, 16 weights ranging from Thin to Ultra Black with italics. The accompanying 'Precious Serif' family will be unveiled next month.

Fans of Cooke's 'Houschka' family will be pleased to know that an alternate set is now available with more traditional 'A', 'W' & 'w' characters which will offer Corprate Identity specialists another sans alternative and complement the existing set nicely. Have a look ay Houschka Alternate.

G-Type is featured in the forthcoming MacFormat magazine. Click here for a preview.

- ACME FONTS ADDITIONS
New to the ACME FONTS range are three font families and 2 single experimental faces. New sans family AF Diwa looks like winning a few friends. AF Carplates has also had the available weights updated to include Stencil versions.

- ELSNER & FLAKE SPECIAL EDITION CD
Hamburg's finest, E+F, have issued a strictly limited edition CD collection to celebrate their 15th birthday. Housed in a padded metal box, the CD contains 500 fonts both new and old. Contact us for a free poster and make sure you're one of the 1000 lucky people to get their hands on the collection!

- NEW CLUB 21 RELEASES
Club21 Simpson Typewriter is now available as an eight weight family. At the request of The Face magazine Club 21 designer Julian Morey has extended Simpson to include Regular, Medium, Bold and Black plus italics, thus greatly improving the usability of the font as a text face. The italics also feature a specially designed one story lowercase "a" and have been cut to retain Simpson's mono line weight.

- NEW DEVICE FONTS FROM RIAN HUGHES
Another batch of fonts from the increasingly ubiquitous Rian Hughes through his Device foundry. Most important are the added weights to the Paralucent range (including Condensed and Italic styles), creating a versatile font family which is certain to become a classic. Buy online now and ditch that old copy of Univers!

Look out for the forthcoming book "Device: Art, Commercial" (DGV) which encapsulates all Rian's illustration work as well as his typefaces. A short interview with Rian by the publishers Die Gestalten can be read here.

- FRESH VIRUS ALERT! NEW FONTS FROM JON BARNBROOK
Virus extend their quest to spiritually enlighten the masses by issuing 4 sacred new type offerings. ' Echelon ' is a fake East European font based on 'pipe style' 70's typefaces, ' Expletive Script ' is a modular font based on a circular form, ' Melancholia ' a delicate sans serif with alt. swash characters and 'Coma', according to Virus leader Barnbrook, "is the torpor that we all live in every day of our lives".
